Ease into autumn with a gentle cruise along the River Avon in the historic town of Stratford upon Avon, with afternoon tea served on board.

Enjoy the peace, tranquility and enchanting views whilst passing through some of the most delightful stretches of this gently flowing river, cruising to Luddington and back.

After lunch explore this 800 year old market town with many half-timbered buildings dating back to medieval times. Enjoy time at leisure to see the sites, join a Stratford Town walk or browse the diverse array of shops. The coach will also drop-off and pick-up at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the family home of Shakespeare’s wife.

Tour Details

River Cruise with afternoon tea

During the cruise we pass through three locks and take in the sites of Stratford-upon-Avon including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the 15^th century Holy Trinity Church, with its fine monuments including one of William Shakespeare who is buried in the chancel.

On arrival at Luddington the boat will moor up for around 15 minutes before we make our return journey.

After lunch there is time to explore Stratford-upon-Avon at your own pace.

Visit Stratford-upon-Avon

Stratford is synonymous with William Shakespeare and within walking distance around the town you may want to visit one of the Shakespeare locations. Shakespeare’s Birthplace – visit the house where the world’s most famous playwright was born and grew up to discover more about his early years. The garden is a delight. At Shakespeare’s New Place, uncover the fascinating story of the house that isn’t there and discover beautiful gardens and specially-commissioned artworks.

Please note pre-booking is essential for some of the venues and entry is not included in the cost of this trip.

For those wanting to visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage the family home of William Shakespeare’s wife-to-be, the coach will drop-off around 14.15 and pick-up at 17.00. Built more than 500 years ago and extended over the years, much of the original survives. See original furniture including the Hathaway bed and uncover five centuries of stories of the family who lived here for 13 generations. Wander through acres of beautiful cottage gardens and orchards, and explore the sculpture trail inspired by Shakespeare’s plays.

Travel arrangements

Departing Ellesmere at 08.30, Shrewsbury at 09.30 and Telford at 09.50. Arriving back at Telford at 18.45, Shrewsbury at 19.15 and 20.00 at Ellesmere.

All timings are provisional and will be confirmed 7-days before travel and are dependent upon traffic on the day.

We have an ‘All Weather Policy’ which means the tour will go ahead come rain or shine unless the Met Office announces it is unsafe to travel.
