Chatsworth Christmas Experience, Derbyshire.

Chatsworth at Christmas in one of the must-visit events in the Wisteria Tours calendar. Tickets are not yet on sale but we have already submitted our request and are awaiting confirmation.

Each year the house is decorated for Christmas with a different theme which will be announced in September. Although Chatsworth is keeping the details of the theme under wraps we know from past experience the decorations will be spectacular.

The famous Chatsworth Christmas Market is returning for a short period. On arrival you can either head straight into the market or seek out one of the lovely places to eat before getting down to some serious gift shopping.

Entry into the house is by timed ticket only and we have requested a slot at 15.00, which gives you time to visit the market and have lunch at a leisurely pace.

As dusk falls the grounds will be illuminated by a light trail that reflects the 2024 theme. Last year’s theme was ‘Advent’ and it was a delight to see the graphic projections on the front of the house. We will depart in the early evening to allow time to exit the house and take a stroll around the grounds to enjoy the light trail.

A non-refundable deposit of £20 per person is payable when booking. Full payment is due 10 weeks before departure.

Itinerary

Tour Details

No where does Christmas quite like Chatsworth House in Derbyshire which is why we request tickets as early in the year as we can.

Plans for this year have not been released yet and we do not know the theme for 2024. We do however know that the Christmas market will be offering more than 100 themed stalls selling gifts, food and drink.

Our provisional itinerary is:

12.00 Arrive Chatsworth and entry into Christmas Market

15.00 Timed entry into Chatsworth House

16.00 Free flow Evening Light Trail in the grounds.

After a drive through some magnificent scenery we will arrive at Chatsworth for around 12.00 noon. If you are ready for some refreshments you will be spoilt for choice! You can book ahead for a seasonal meal at The Cavendish Restaurant or if you want something less formal there is The Carriage House, a self-service café.

At The Estate Farm Shop you will find seasonal food using plenty of local produce. Or you can of course bring a picnic.

If you want to head straight to the Christmas Market area 100 themed stalls will be selling gifts as well as serving food and drink. Don’t forget to visit The Stable Block and Orangery Shop for Chatsworth inspired gifts.

When you have finished browsing the stalls and eaten your fill of festive treats it will be time for our house tour which is booked for 15.00. Allow at least an hour for the free flow tour.

Dusk will be falling the time you exit the house which is perfect timing to follow the short light trail through the grounds before re-joining the coach for our journey home. If you don’t want to walk through the ground – and last year it was pretty dark – you can take a short cut and go straight to the grand finale, a wonderful graphic video projected on to the front of the house.

Booking your place

The cost for the day is £95 which includes return coach travel from your pick-up point and entry into the Christmas Market, timed entry ticket into Chatsworth House and access to the grounds light trail.
